We have been up to quite a bit this weekend...

... making huge but yumi birthday cakes...

... remembering the art of doing everything (including the cake eating) with one hand, while holding babe in the other ...

... patiently waiting for five minutes with two free hands to wind up the lovely yarn I received in the post in order to start even more projects...

... failing miserably at taking photos of my latest completed knitting project which has been waiting around for the pregnant belly to disappear... hope to take some good pics soon once I get some good light!

... watching the boys play outside while I stay indoors with baby Stian hoping for the snow to disappear soon and for the temperatures to rise a little more...

-hanging the washing outside for the first time this year after a couple of hours of snow shoveling to get to the washing line!.

-above 0 temperatures and wondering if Spring will just arrive a little earlier this year.

-lots of time outside in the sun making one of winters first snow men! The sun was warm enough to make the top layer of snow less hard and we were able to build a little snow man.

-casting off and thinking what to cast one next while sitting at what norwegians call "solveggen" (the sun wall). This is a spot with no wind were you can actually sit without too many clothes on in spite of the below 0 temperatures.

-reindeer stew and cinnamon rolls with friends.

-starting to unpack tiny baby clothes and hoping that if this baby is a girl she wont mind to be dressed in a lot of blue.

-making plans on where to go for some weeks on holiday this year. Trying to think of places where one can actually travel with three children and not go mad.

The weather was so fantastic this weekend we spent most of our mornings outside in the snow. Don't be fooled by the shining sun since it was about -20 degrees Celsius while we were outside, but the absence of wind makes it totally bearable to be outside for some hours.

We drank hot chocolate fast fast since it becomes stone cold after only a couple of minutes. We (well, read the boys since this mamma and her belly just sit while the fun is going on) also made snow angels, sledged down hills and tried to run as fast as we could on the pristine and untouched snow. It is not possible to build snow men or any kind of structure where we live due to the very low temperatures we have. The snow is just like powder and does not stick together at all. We also managed to clean snow from the veranda at the back of the house leaving a nice and sunny spot to sit and knit (with many layers of clothes on of course!), to sit and drink coffee or just to sit and play with buckets and spades.

Ah, the weekend! Our weekends usually stretch fromThursdays to Sundays since the boys are only at the kindergarden three days a week. Its so nice to have a stretch of many days together just hanging about and doing what we want.

We enjoyed the outdoors a little less these days since it has been very cold, close to -20 degrees and so we are only out a for bit while taking trucks for a walk and to see the Sun once again.

Otherwise lots of indoor time but now that the light is back we do not feel it as heavy as when the darkness was constant. Crafting, painting, building and even some football camps in our long living room.

I am leaving next Wednesday to Tromsø for a course and will be away for ten days. The Mr. will be in charge of house and children. It will be strange to be away for so long but I must take this course before I go on maternity leave. I must admit it will also be nice to be alone for some days in spite of the course going on every day from 9 am to 4 pm. I am hoping on catching up on some needed sleep and to shop some clothes for the boys in the "big" city. In our town there is only one shop to buy clothes and it is not very good.

Not sure I will pop in here until I am back, I don't think I will have anything exciting to report during my trip except hopefully lots of knitting and boring new concepts on the philosophy of ethics in science.

-We made "sunbuns" to welcome the Sun back. We still haven't seen the Sun but it is officially back although it doesn't rise above the trees yet. I am thinking next weekend we will finally see it!

-We ate dropped scones from this book both Saturday and Sunday.

-The boys sled and snow surfed down the barn ramp, so much fun!

-We went to give some food to the roe deer who live in the forest and who struggle to find food during the cold winters here.

I also knitted not one but two tiny hats this weekend! More on that tomorrow. I am feeling extremely productive recently, at least in the knitting front! I am also making progress on my manuscript which I hope to finish next week. It will be a long week with me working against the clock and pappa away on business trip!

But we just might see the Sun after two months without it so it will all be fine!

We had two grumpy boys on saturday, not sure why, so there was lots of warm showers and water playing which gets them in a good mood.

Sunday was peaceful again but with cold temperatures so we were outside only for an hour before our toes started freezing!
